Timeless singer, timeless songs

"I'm very happy to be a singer, and I will always be a singer. I don't think I was born to do anything else."

- Nana Mouskouri

The Lady

Nana on Nana >

To Nana, with love.....

My late parents and I, first heard Nana's angelic voice on local radio, in the mid '70s in the tiny island of Ceylon (Sri Lanka), where I was born. (I am of Sri Lankan & European descent.). We were later treated to the BBC TV series "Nana & Guests" and were thrilled to see the beautiful lady behind the voice. Since then my husband, Athula & I were fortunate to see Nana perform live in our adopted homeland, Australia, at the Melbourne Concert Hall on 14th & 22nd March, 2001 - her concerts were absolutely magical. We were also blessed to meet Nana back stage, after both concerts - a dream come true!

Nana's voice has not only been a source of inspiration and immense joy, but it has also comforted and soothed me and my family in times of adversity, and will continue to do so, in the future. She is also the voice of the oppressed, sad, lonely and rejected, as well as the voice of every child - her voice soothes and transports human beings to another world, free from all pain and sorrow. I hear God's voice when I hear her sing in so many languages.... although, I must admit I don't understand all the words sometimes, I do understand the meaning she is conveying in her songs - to me, this is one of her greatest attributes. Nana and her voice have hugely influenced me... also a singer with a trained voice. I deeply admire Nana's modesty and humility as well - a glowing example in today's world.

To show my appreciation to Nana for all the love and happiness she has given me and my family & still gives us, I have dedicated this web site to her, which i created in 2001....

Through this web site I am in touch with many Nana fans, who, like me, have been moved by this amazing lady - I am grateful to Nana for being the reason why I have so many friends around the world! She has bridged all rivers.... religion, race & colour, with her love and compassion. May God richly reward her for fulfilling His plan for her here, on earth, and also for the love she has shown His people!

We were rapt to see Nana perform again at the Melbourne Concert Hall on 9th & 10th September, 2005 as part of her world farewell tour. She was very gracious as she met us again back stage, posing patiently for photographs, and generously giving us her autograph. Although the time has come for her to say good bye to us, and we won't see her perform on stage again, I am convinced that her voice will continue to resound in the hearts & minds of all her dear fans, forever.... thank you Nana, from the bottom of my heart - I'll remember you!
