ConcertsReview of Nana's concert at Centennial Hall, London, Ontario, Canada on 07/05/06 - Nicola Nana had her concert in London, Ontario, Canada tonite...and it was absolutely fabulous. I went with my 12 year old nephew who is learning the piano and who has enjoyed her jazz DVD that I bought. I have been looking forward to this concert..but did not know what to expect...she was more than I thought ...much more..she played every style of music from Classical ..Greek...Jazz..Country ...Songs from Movies..singing in Greek..French ..German ..Spanish ...I was 3 rows from the front...and she sounded so perfect..but yet so sensitive...vulnerable sometimes..... Her band was amazing too ...very talented musicians... On the way in to the concert ..met some ladies..who were from England and Holland...and who are going to every show in Canada...huge fans to do that... There were so many highlights to the show ...but ..when she spoke to the audience..was very special ..she talked about growing up ..and singing on the little stage at her fathers outdoor movie theatre....and dreaming....and remembering herself back then ..and talking of values.truth ...love..courage....and seeking out and meeting other musicians and singers along the way that shared the same....I think she is a very deep person... When she sang ..Somewhere Over the Rainbow....she had tears in her eyes...I think this is a very special song for her..when she spoke about it..before she performed it.. ..and talked about what each of the characters represented ..I am not sure ..but she was looking right at me ..at least I think so ....and I got tears in my eyes...the same thing happened when I saw Mera Mayou performed on one of her DVD's. She has very deep penetrating eyes...yet soulful ..hard to describe... She did 2 encores..and her final song ..was My Way ...leaving the concert hall...with the audience giving her a standing ovation ....but very special ..as she left the stage....she waved..but then touched the floor....a gesture to remember us by? or say good bye.... I will remember her..I am glad I discovered her music ...and the good fortune to discover it while I could still see her perform...that will remain with me for the rest of my life....that is how deep her singing and music goes... |
